Water Cycle in a Bag

This term we have been learning about cycles. Our focus has been the water cycle and weather in NZ.  Everyone in the class created their own water cycle. Students can describe the processes they can see in the bag and they can explain how it is similar to what they observe in real life.

Today Room 2 is in the school hall.  We are learning how to throw the perfect rugby pass.

Pass It

Another fantastic sports session with Kirsten from Sport BOP.  Students are practicing some netball passing skills in fun game situations. Silent netball touchdown was my favourite game of the morning!

Holograms

Troy made a hologram using an iPad and some clear plastic.  It was a hit with the class.  It is always great to see what students create at home. This is a great reminder to  bring in things you work on at home and share with your classmates.

St Mary of the Cross Feast Day

Today our school celebrated St Mary Mackillop Feast Day a day early.  We started the day in a whole school mass. Then the classes completed a rotation learning about how Mary Mickillop served her community and how we can learn from her to be more giving at school and home.  Each team had a shared lunch and to finish off the day students played games that Mary herself may have played as a girl.

Paper Tower Challenge

Groups of students had the challenge of making the tallest paper tower possible in 20 minutes.  Groups work and roles of the students in the group were the focus of discussions after the challenge.  There are times when everyone needs to think about how they help the people they work with.  Well done Room 2.  I heard lots of positive comments and everyone was on task working together.  No wonder we had so many wonderful ideas being built!

Hit It Tennis Programme

Last week the children had tennis lessons.  The weather was crisp but they soon warmed up.  It didn't take them long to remember their lessons from last year.  It is fantastic to have instructors and coaches in our community coming in to share their expertise with the students.

Posh Tea Party

Students decided to have a High Tea in Room 2.  It was a yummy, warm and fun way to spend our Golden Time.
