Summer Holiday Writing

Room 2 created art to support writing that included only six words.  Those six words needed to be spectacular! So everyone learned to use a thesaurus and try to improve on their original ideas.  The chosen words had to reflect the images they remembered from school holidays.

Developing Good Team-Working Skills in Maths

Sometimes working together as a team it is hard to share ideas and work collaboratively.  Add silence to the mix and the nrich maths task of Making Rectangles becomes an even bigger challenge.  Teammates had to pass pieces to others in their group to help one another to complete their rectangle.  Success was measured when everyone on the team has completed their part.  Two teams managed to complete all the rectangles before they had to head off for swimming lessons.  Lots of thinking and learning in Room 2!

Camera Tag Golden Time

Another week and everyone in Room 2 was rewarded for their hard work and fantastic behaviour.  Students had heaps of fun finding places to hide around school.  Who didn't get tagged?

Swimming at the Aquatic Centre

Room 2 has started their swimming lessons this term.  Many students are trying to swim 200m or trying to improve their swimming technique over 200m.  Water safety is an important part of kiwi kids education especially when we live around so many beautiful lakes in Rotorua.

Co-operative Games

Today we played two versions of musical chairs.  The original game was played by excluding students if they didn't get a seat. This afternoon we also played an inclusive version.
