Room 2 are making lanterns to celebrate Matariki. Arshjot is drawing a leaf pattern. Next they tape the pattern on their tin can. Ria's can is ready to have holes put in using a nail and hammer. The cans were filled with water and then frozen to make the tin can rigid when hammering in the design. I can't wait to see one of the finished projects!

Flour Wars Year 5 vs Year 6
Last month to end our study of ANZACs Room 2 decided to try and set up their own version of trench warfare. I will be honest, when I agreed to this at the beginning of the term I did think the children meant "flower" wars.
The class created flour bombs from recycled fruit bags and flour. There were hundreds of bags sitting at the back of the classroom waiting for a warm sunny autumn afternoon. As you can see the children had a great time.

M and M Statistics
Room 2 are beginning a statistics unit. It was a yummy surprise to be able to eat our data. We looked at the mean, mode, and range of our data. Finding percentages using the calculator and graphing our data three different ways was a good start to remembering everything we learned last year.

Sun Art
In class we have been learning about renewable energy sources. Troy's mum donated the light-sensitive paper to the class. Everyone got a chance to make a print from objects we found in the classroom or outside in the gardens.
After the objects were on the paper in the sun for a few minutes we had to wet the paper.
These are a few of the amazing pieces of art we created.
